AYO won the Capgemini's Sport-Tech challenge in the UK
April 25, 2018
AYO became the UK’s national winner of Capgemini’s international sport-tech challenge
Scrum7, which took place in London! The competition
gathered the world’s best sports related
companies that can improve the performance of Rugby7s’ athletes and enhance fan experience.
Scrum7 by Capgemini brings together start-ups, university Rugby Sevens teams, global brands,
and network of Applied Innovation Exchanges on one platform to demonstrate how technology
enables people, whether it be in sports or business, to be ahead of the game.
Firstly, AYO was selected among the 7 best sport-tech teams to compete in the London final,
where the co-founder of AYO, Aleksandar Dimitrov, presented AYO in front of a jury
consisting of a Rugby7s athlete, Director of Rugby at Loughborough University, and Capgemini
executives.
Due to its unique capability to help athletes fight jet lag and boost alertness, the jury
members unanimously decided that AYO deserves to be brought closer to Rugby7s athletes and
became the winner in the category of team performance.
The AYO light therapy solution can be of great benefit to Rugby7s’ athletes, which traverse
the globe, crossing 5 continents within 6 months every year during the World Rugby7s Series.
They usually experience jet lag, which plays an important role and can have numerous adverse
effects on their recovery and overall performance.
Blue light has been consistently shown to be of great benefit for improving athletic
performance and sleep quality, increasing alertnessi, as well as regulating the circadian rhythm. This means that
thanks to
it, we can adapt up to 3 times faster to a new time zone.
We look forward to working with Capgemini and Loughborough University to further develop our
technology and tailor it to athletes’ needs to minimize jetlag and improve their
performance!
